Labour market

The municipality of Roosendaal has over 77,000 inhabitants which makes it the second town in West Brabant in terms of population size. According to the Employment Survey of Bedrijfsbureau Ontwikkeling Breda, the overall region is home to over 370,000 relatively young and well-educated people, with an unemployment rate of ca. 9.2%.

Based on data from the Dutch Central Bureau of Statistics, in June 2015, there are 45 unemployed people per 1000 in Roosendaal municipality, with circa 2,250 unemployed in Roosendaal itself (and 3,420 in capacity for work) and another circa 12,000 of unemployed (and circa 17,000 in capacity to work) within a 30-minute drive from the Site.

In addition, there is a sizeable labour potential of approximately 25,000 commuters - residents of West Brabant. Furthermore, studies from Doelgroepen Dashboard show that the average willingness to travel of a typical employee in the logistics sector is 37 minutes. This leads to a logistics recruitment area containing big cities such as Breda, Tilburg, Dordrecht, Bergen op Zoom, Goes and Antwerp.

Another potential benefit is the level of cost of labour, which, for the commercial services sector for instance, is some 7% lower than the national average.
